Research field (Free keywords) Optoelectronic devices, Sensors, Porous materials, optical and physical characterization
Scientific expertise My research work focuses on the fabrication and development of micro and nanoporous materials for several applications such as biomedical and environmental sensors and optoelectronic devices. Specially, I have worked with porous materials such as porous alumina and porous silicon. During my research activity, I have developed several fabrication methods for these materials and have also characterized them physically, optically and chemically. Besides, I have also developed software for the simulation of their optical response. The in-depth knowledge of these materials, with variable physical characteristics and therefore variable optical properties, allowed me to develop a high number of applications, especially in the fields of biological and chemical sensors, as well as drug delivery and cell growth.
Capabilities I have extensive experience in the fabrication, characterization, and development of porous materials and in the fabrication of sensors for the detection of bacteria, viruses, biomarkers or pollutants based on porous materials, using detection methods like RIFS, molecular gates and fluorescence spectroscopy. I am experienced and very interested in the development of these sensors, for this reason I consider that I can develop an interesting work in several working groups of this NETPORE COST Action. I have developed new methods for the modification of the porous structures and post- processing like magnetization and functionalization of the pores. I have promoted the dissemination of results by the publication in high IF international journals and by the organization of international workshops or congresses.
